Fireplace & Chimney Production Foreman
The Fireplace & Chimney Craftsman Manager is a senior field leadership position responsible for repair, installation, training, and project execution following completed inspections. This role does not supervise inspection staff or generate inspection reports. Instead, it ensures inspection findings are translated into executable scopes and that permitted work is completed safely, accurately, and professionally.
A critical component of this role is managing inspections required by permits, including scheduling, attending, responding to corrections, and driving projects through approval and closeout with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
This position exists to provide steady field leadership, protect quality, reduce execution gaps, and support growth in high-end residential markets.
Key Responsibilities
Repair & Installation Leadership
- Lead fireplace and chimney repair and installation projects after scope approval
- Work alongside crews on complex or high-risk work
- Verify workmanship, sequencing, and adherence to listings and manufacturer requirements
- Step in to maintain continuity during staffing gaps or critical phases
Project Management & Execution
- Coordinate multiple active projects simultaneously
- Manage logistics, access, sequencing, and readiness
- Identify risks that could impact schedules, inspections, or completion
- Communicate field conditions and constraints promptly
Estimating & Pre-Construction Support (Post-Inspection)
- Review inspection findings and proposed scopes for constructability and completeness
- Identify demolition needs, access issues, or coordination gaps early
- Participate in select site visits to finalize execution planning
- Support estimating accuracy without performing inspections
Permits & Inspections Required by Permits
- Track permits and manage required AHJ inspections
- Schedule, confirm, attend, and follow up on permit inspections
- Ensure jobsite readiness prior to inspection
- Receive and address correction notices
- Coordinate reinspection and drive approval to closeout
Training, Development & Team Leadership
- Train and mentor repair and installation technicians
- Reinforce safety, workmanship, and professionalism
- Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with each direct report
- Identify training needs and performance gaps early
- Model leadership presence both in the field and in structured meetings
Work Structure & Schedule Expectations
- Project-driven schedule; not fixed end times
- Monday–Thursday: full production days (typically 10–14 hours)
- Friday: partial day focused on progress verification, permit inspections, and coordination
- Efficiency and planning can reduce hours over time, but baseline availability is required
- Occasional off-hour or weekend coordination may be necessary during critical phases
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in fireplace and chimney repair and installation
- Proven crew leadership or foreman-level responsibility
- Experience managing permitted work and interacting with AHJs
- Strong construction, sequencing, and coordination background
Preferred Certifications
- CSIA certification
- F.I.R.E. Certified Inspector (for technical alignment; not inspection authority)
- Copperfield Level II inspection training
Why This Role Exists
- Reduce overload on individual lead technicians
- Improve execution consistency and quality
- Strengthen coordination between inspection findings, estimates, and field work
- Ensure permit-required inspections do not stall projects
- Provide scalable leadership as the company grows
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Be part of a nationally recognized company with certified inspectors and a reputation for excellence.
- Work with great people who value craftsmanship, integrity, and safety above all else.
- Enjoy a professional environment that balances independence and teamwork.
- Contribute to protecting Colorado’s finest homes and the families who live in them.

FIELD POSITIONS: Why This Isn’t Your Typical Trade Job
As a member of The Chimney Doctor team, you’ll focus your expertise in Colorado’s premier mountain communities—where homeowners expect top-tier inspection, repair, and installation service. Our schedule is designed around fewer, higher-value projects so you can apply your full skill, attention, and craftsmanship rather than chasing volume. If you value working with sophisticated systems, tight tolerances, and clients who prioritize safety and quality, this job is for you.
- Exclusive Properties, Remarkable Craftsmanship: You’ll inspect and restore systems in architecturally refined homes owned by some of the most successful people in the world.
- Outdoor & Lifestyle Advantage: Based in Colorado’s mountain corridors. When you’re off the clock, you’re in some of the top adventure terrain: skiing, climbing, biking, fishing — live and work where others vacation.
- Professional Growth Built In: Apprentices begin learning under seasoned mentors; our structured path leads to a “Lead Specialist” or “Project Lead” status, with certifications, leadership opportunities, and performance-based advancement.
- High Standards, High Respect: We expect more than “just get it done.” We expect craftsmanship, integrity, and professionalism. In return, you are treated as the skilled professional you are.
We Are Hiring for Two Tracks
1) Inspection Specialist Apprentice → Inspection Specialist Lead
- As an Inspection Specialist, you’ll work in high-demand mountain communities, performing Level II and advanced safety inspections in some of Colorado’s most complex residential chimney systems.
- You’ll examine high-value chimneys, fireplaces and venting systems, produce detailed, defensible reports, and serve clients who expect excellence.
- Key Traits: Mechanical curiosity, meticulous attention to detail, confidence at heights, exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Ideal Background: HVAC, home inspection, or related field preferred. Comfortable working outdoors year-round.
2) Fireplace & Chimney Production Technician → Project Lead
- Our production track focus on system restorations, rebuilds, and installations in premier properties across the Rockies. You’ll apply technical skill in environments where precision, client trust, and communication are just as important as workmanship.
- Key Traits: Adaptability, leadership through action, clear communication, pride in craftsmanship.
- Ideal Background: Construction, masonry or carpentry experience required. Comfortable at heights and in varying weather.
Who You Are
- You believe your work reflects your standards. You treat inspection reports and installations as extensions of your integrity.
- You’re unfazed by heights, scaffolding, attic crawl-spaces or outdoor extremes — you thrive in the environment.
- You’re resilient and adaptable. When a job changes, materials shift, or weather turns, you stay steady.
- You communicate clearly and professionally, with clients, colleagues, and leadership.
- You want more than a paycheck. You want to build a reputation for safe, elegant, high-end hearth service.
Perks, Rewards & Expectations
- Full-time employment with benefits and upward mobility.
- Industry-leading training and certification investment.
- Work on premium properties — the kind of work that builds a portfolio and a career.
- A team and culture that value safety, craftsmanship, and trade excellence.
- Expect to work outdoors year-round with dynamic field conditions.
- Expect to climb ladders, perform precise work at height, and manage materials and documentation professionally.
